The Weiner Family Foundation

Grant Guidelines & Application

We primarily fund organizations in the greater Philadelphia area. The deadline for receiving applications is September 15 each calendar year. The board reviews each proposal. The board may make a site visit or meet with a prospective grantee. There is a greater likelihood of a successful application if this takes place.

Grants range from $ 1,000 to $100,000, with most grants between $2,500 and $5,000. Although we do not make multiple-year grants, renewals will be considered individually. The Foundation's grants are primarily directed to activities conducted in Southeast Pennsylvania. Exceptions to this geographical limitation may be made for proposals with a national impact or replication. The Foundation will not fund any organization that discriminates based on age, gender, national origin, race, religion, or sexual preference.

The Foundation makes programmatic grants, either ongoing or newly developed. The Foundation requests that you provide a brief 1-2 page proposal and supporting documents. Completed applications should comprise the following:

  1. A brief description of the history, purpose, goals, and activities of your organization
  2. A statement of the need for support and how support would be used
  3. A copy of the current operating budget and most recent audit
  4. A program budget summary
  5. A certificate of tax exemption
  6. Copy of the latest annual report, newsletters, or materials to illustrate your work
  7. The amount requested from The Weiner Family Foundation. (You may also include a “menu” of varying projects that need funding).

The Foundation expects to receive written reports about funded projects and financial accountings of the expenditure of the funds. Applicants will be notified of decisions made during the Annual Board meeting by December 31 of each calendar year.

To be sure that your project is a good fit, you will want to check the Mission Statement to be sure that The Weiner Family Foundation’s goals and objectives for grant-making are consistent with your grant request.

The Foundation looks for projects that:

  1. Improve the well-being of animals
  2. Contribute to the eradication of sex and labor trafficking
  3. Helps Jewish causes
  4. Seek solutions for childhood diseases or traumatic events

Include a cover letter that introduces your organization and proposal and links your proposal and the mission, goals, and objectives of The Weiner Family Foundation.
